The story of David vs. The Matrix? Does that really work?

This is a story I wrote a while ago, and I am going to write it here in installments. Let me know what you think and I will continue.

David and Goliath

This is a story of biblical proportions, chuck full of insperational goodies, and faith building characters. Get ready to be thrown for a loop as this story becomes a mistake of biblical proportions.

We meet David out in the fields watching his fathers sheep. David has always wondered why his father made him watch the sheep. I mean, there was a 20 foot high electric fence around them. They are not going anywhere. But still, David is forced to watch them. Most days consist of David taunting wolves or lions to give him something to do. If by chance one of them came after him, he would guide it to the fence. At the fence the sheep would get their attention and they would try to get the sheep. You can guess how that turns out. Lion sandwich for lunch.

Being bored most days, David would practice his aim. He would throw rocks at bottles, shoot rocks out of a sling at trees. You know, that sort of thing. And he was pretty good with a firearm.

However, David was only 14, too young to do many of the big things, like professional wrestling. Although those things did not intrest him at all. David wanted to be a farmer, but his father was not too keen on that idea. No, he would not be a farmer. He would sit and watch the sheep behind the fence. David's father never thought much of his dreams. Not since the dream where David was a paratrooper. The next morning he jumped out of a tree hoping that his jacket would catch enough air to slow him down. No, the medical bills alone from that bright idea made David's father think he knew what was best for the lad.

Like that little bit? I hope so. More to come later.

The Lima Life

Hello everyone. Thanks for coming to check out my blog. For those of you who don't know, I am currently living in Lima, Peru. I moved here to get married. My wife, Laura, is an amazing woman, and I hope you will all meet her someday soon.

Lima is so different from life in Utah. It is very crazy here. Well, when you grow up in a small town near the mountains, everything else seems pretty crazy.

Anyways, I am now working as an English teacher, and I work for a company called Business Links. Laura is also an English teacher. She works in a school called Abraham Lincoln. We live in a zone called La Molina. We are not near the ocean, but we are near the mountains, and I like that. If we want to go to the ocean, we hop on a bus. That is how we get everywhere here. I am getting pretty good at getting around on my own.

I have been here since January 22, 2009, and we got married on March 11. We had the civil wedding first, and then the Temple wedding. It was a very very very small wedding. The picture up top shows everyone who came. Everyone.

We didn't have a honeymoon after the wedding, but I like to say we had an early honeymoon. I came to Lima in October of 2008 to see Laura for the first time, and we spent a week in Cuzco. We were going to go to Machu Picchu, but we didn't have the money to do that, but we are still planning that.

Our next big plan is to come to the states. We want to be there mid January 2010. We have to work on Lauras visa, and then saving the money for the plane tickets. Money here is harder to earn. If a ticket is $500, it is 1500 soles.

But, life here can be really fun. It is so much bigger than really anywhere I have been, so I am still getting used to that. I love Lauras family. They just got a kitten. Its name is Obi. Its a fun cat. Well, time for bed, but more to come soon.

What I like to call, Beginners Poetry

The last thing I saw as I looked out the window
was relentless rain
Steady, pounding rain, waking ghosts who should
be long dead
From the first I saw it, I knew it would haunt me
in dreams as I slept
I know I should not depair, for nothing can harm

a fruit bowl

Thank you.

The taste was good
inside my mouth
How I had thrown it away
in my youth
Mmmm, I like dirt.

And, the cow poem.

This is the new poem, that I write right now
as I look out the window, I pretend I'm a cow
The grass looks good, I wish I could just eat
but I wonder how I will dance with hoofs for feet

The wind blows as I dance in the field
the farmer drives by and my fate is sealed
A cow that dances, he says with a grin
with the money I will make, it should be a sin

The next thing I know, I am in a truck
buckled up front, oh what luck
I think to myself that life is great
Hey, just like in these United States

I forget myself and I turn to the farmer
"This sure is a fun ride, pardner."
Then the farmer hits the breaks, POW
"HOLY CRAP, this is a talking cow."

The next thing I know, the farmers out the door
running down the road, I wonder what for
So with the farmer gone, I take the wheel
I push the gas and head for where ever I feel

There is a turn in the road just ahead
and then I remember what everone said
Cows cant drive, however you linger
that's because they dont have a finger

I try to turn the truck to the right
but I cant, oh what a fright
The truck crashes into a tree
and I am stuck, and can not flee

The engine bursts into a fire
and I really dont want to be a liar
I wet myself right then and there
and cried because life isnt fair

I was back in the field with all my cow buddies
and they gathered around making their own studdies
They laughted at me as I was pulled out
I lay on the ground, just like a dead trout

Then it hits me, as I remember
I am sitting in my house on a cold September
I am not a cow, I am only me
but my pants are wet, I hope its not pee.

And finally, a poem I wrote about my oldest nephew

I have a little nephew
and I sat him on my knee
when in that quiet child voice
he said he had to pee

I rushed him down the hallway
and this I have to say
The journey was too long for him
so he went upon the way.

The Vampire boy.

Thanks goes to one of my English students for the name of the main character in this poem.

Stephano is a vampire
He used to be a man
but things suddenly changed for him
when he moved to Japan

A quiet little town was there
next to the big ol' city
where darkness rules, and days a dream
and everythings built on pity

Stephano walks it late at night
He is looking for he killer
who got his girl the night before
Rebecca Anna Miller

The lights go out, the street is dark
Stephanos not alone
then from the dark he hears a noise
his blood turns cold like stone

"Why are you here?" a voice calls out
"This isn't your town at all.
But while I have you hear tonight
I'll let you hear my call."

His voice is loud, its all I hear
and then I feel a pain
my necks been bit, I'm on the ground
but there's warmness in my veins

I get up slow, he takes my hand
I feel as though another
He helps me up and in my ear
Whispers, "Now you are my brother."

Water

It was a sunny day, with the sun above,
the clouds had just departed.
The rain left puddles on the ground,
so the jumping I had started.

Splashes going left and right,
my shoes were really wet.
But with the temperature of the air
my heart was truly set

On splashing all the water out
of those indents in the ground
I jumped and jumped and jumped and jumped
and this is what I found.

The water making all those puddles
just kept on coming back
I jumped some more but even so
It just kept coming back

The sun was moving 'cross the sky
but hardly did I move
the water I must get away
but there was something it had to prove

As the water came back another time
it grew higher in the air
a mouth appeared and it said to me
this jumping just isn't fair

I fell down from the sky above
and now I wait to be
with my family in the clouds
but you keep jumping on me

I tried to wait for you to stop
but you just kept on going
so now its my turn to do the jumping
and maybe you'll be flowing

back to this spot with every jump
that would be kind of funny
to see the same happen to you
Oh look, its the easter bunny.

I turned my head and when I did
I was pushed down to the ground
the water jumped into the air
and started coming down

I screamed and kicked and then awoke
I was safe at home in bed
This water monster was not real
it was all just in my head

I tried to sleep some more that night
but I never closed an eye
for a glass of water was near my bed
and it wanted me to die.

The Beginning

This is my first ever blog, so I hope you enjoy it. In this I want to put some of my writing, and comments on life, which from me can be many. If you have any comments on anything I say, let me know. But only if it is good. Ha. Yeah, I mean that.
