The Lima Life

Hello everyone. Thanks for coming to check out my blog. For those of you who don't know, I am currently living in Lima, Peru. I moved here to get married. My wife, Laura, is an amazing woman, and I hope you will all meet her someday soon.

Lima is so different from life in Utah. It is very crazy here. Well, when you grow up in a small town near the mountains, everything else seems pretty crazy.

Anyways, I am now working as an English teacher, and I work for a company called Business Links. Laura is also an English teacher. She works in a school called Abraham Lincoln. We live in a zone called La Molina. We are not near the ocean, but we are near the mountains, and I like that. If we want to go to the ocean, we hop on a bus. That is how we get everywhere here. I am getting pretty good at getting around on my own.

I have been here since January 22, 2009, and we got married on March 11. We had the civil wedding first, and then the Temple wedding. It was a very very very small wedding. The picture up top shows everyone who came. Everyone.

We didn't have a honeymoon after the wedding, but I like to say we had an early honeymoon. I came to Lima in October of 2008 to see Laura for the first time, and we spent a week in Cuzco. We were going to go to Machu Picchu, but we didn't have the money to do that, but we are still planning that.

Our next big plan is to come to the states. We want to be there mid January 2010. We have to work on Lauras visa, and then saving the money for the plane tickets. Money here is harder to earn. If a ticket is $500, it is 1500 soles.

But, life here can be really fun. It is so much bigger than really anywhere I have been, so I am still getting used to that. I love Lauras family. They just got a kitten. Its name is Obi. Its a fun cat. Well, time for bed, but more to come soon.
